Using social media is an excellent way to promote business for free and you, the serious entrepreneur who have been doing Online Marketing for quite some time, are probably learning this.

However, you have to be kind of careful with dealing with those who have power on the World Wide Web. Pissing off the people at Google, and other people who are your online “Friends” can result in having your accounts shut down, and leave you crying in the dust. And those are just your Facebook and Twitter accounts!

Why? Simple. It’s because you’ve reached the evolutionary low of Internet personalities. You’ve become a SPAMMER.

Online social networks are great, especially for our rapidly advancing technological world. People can use them to stay in touch with loved ones who are away or out of the country, meet new people who have the same interests online, make friends, spend time chatting, and much more. Unfortunately, as of all good things on the Internet, some evil monster figured out how to twist these blessings and use them for evil.

Internet property is much like any web page where Internet Sites allow peers to interact, which is then called social media online. Web 2.0 is just another word to refer to sites that allow people to contribute to it rather than simply read what’s on it.

So MySpace, Facebook, Twitter and all those other great sites where you can blog, put pictures in, upload songs to, advertise, and what-have-you are all web 2.0.

And as the Internet became more popular and more people started using it, businessmen came to realize that they could promote their business through the web, and thought it was “This is free? This is soooo cool!”

Well, the problem comes: it isn’t cool!

Social media a broad word that encompasses many kinds of sites but there’s an online etiquette that dictates which web 2.0 sites allow you to have a slice of the Internet property for yourself and your business – without ticking off the wrong people and causing you to lose your reputation as a serious entrepreneur in the network marketing industry.

To place it into an analogy:

The weekend is here! You go to party, hoping to catch a few friends, knock back a few drinks and just basically relax and have a good time. Suddenly, some stranger comes up to you, introduces himself and suddenly launches into a sales pitch.

How much of a turn-off is that? That is exactly what happens when you use certain social media sites for purposes they are not intended for.

If you’re going to succeed in the Internet jungle of business, you have to understand that it’s not about making money, but rather, about making connections with people. Even if it’s on the Internet, you should conduct business the same way you would in person: With dignity and respect. Business has it’s time and place, and social media is generally not one of them.

Nobody likes to be force-fed. Building lasting relationships takes time and requires a mutual respect, and so does building a loyal following for your business.

Building a good relationship with your followers will ensure that you do not have a hard time selling your product or business. Make sure that you don’t have to lure your followers, with sales promotions, or else you lose them very quickly. Instead of that lame approach use articles with useful information, every now and then give them the sales pitch. They will appreciate this more because the social networking community is different in the ways that they’ll accept being sold to.

Maximizing traffic in twitter is not only important but is essential to drive more traffic to your website or squeeze page. To sum it up, make sure it that your presence is known on twitter and that you treat your followers with respect. Send tweets regularly and make sure you’re careful with that type of tweets that you send. Make the tweets personal, informative, or fun to read.

You can also try to use your twitter account on your webpage, when you post a website, in your e-mail signature, or any place else that people see that might help you get noticed. You should also be an active twitter poster, which twitter calls tweets. As long as your active people will see that you are posting to twitter. If what you post is interesting, others will comment on this is a great way to meet people and to network and to tell them what your business is all about.

One of your first missions when you get onto twitter should be defined followers. You should try to get to know through your twitter messages as many people as you can. It is not uncommon to have over 1000 or even 10,000 followers. I believe the record is just over 1 million followers. There were many times when the twitter network was down because there were so many people sending messages.

Twitter can be very addictive and time-consuming. Do not let it distract you from your business or your family. Be careful, because if you’re like some people, you just can’t get enough of it.

Make sure you do not overdo it when using automatic updates. More is not always better. Think about it, if you are watching TV and the same commercial ran every two minutes you would become very annoyed very quickly, or you would just tune the commercial out of your mind.

With the three types of email marketing, businesses have an organized way of communicating the right message content to their customers and prospect persons.

This strategy allows you to communicate with people who may have great interest in your business offer and they should be given good information. The following statements will show you ways in which you can improve your business email writing.

There are three types of email marketing solutions available for use: Direct Email, Retention Email, Co-Advertising Emails.

The Direct Email: The main purpose of this email marketing solution is to invite the recipient to take action. This may be to purchase your merchandise, try your service, or just sign-up to receive additional information about the company or what it offers. The ultimate goal of this type is to let them grab the offer. If not, if you have convinced the person to receive newsletters because they are interested, then it is a gain for you as part of your list building strategies. The next emails that you will be sending will not be filtered by Spam Guard or any spam filter for that matter. You’re Legit!

The Retention Email: You already captured their attention, and at some point, you have established a good relationship with them because they had some purchases. Let’s say they liked what you have. Now, the next thing to do is to follow them up. Ask suggestions and find out what you can do make the ends meet with your customer. It’s a strategy for taking care of your client and strengthening their loyalty. This would be the content of your retention emails. Because if you opt in email marketing, your job doesn’t stop in just sending direct emails, give them the feel that they are important to you.

Co-advertising emails, last but not the least, emphasizes its purpose of becoming cheap and trouble-free. Your business is advertised by the use of newsletters. Creating your own newsletter would require a lot of work so find newsletters being subscribed by your target community and let them endorse your business. Make sure that they are selling advertisement space otherwise; you may be sending them the wrong message if you offer to pay them for that purpose.

But the most important thing of all is to identify which group of people you are targeting. Because if you just keep on acquiring emails without determining this, you will have difficulty in communicating with the different kinds of people you just send your email to. So plan your email marketing strategies well.

Business has never been apart from advertising, but the advertising efforts are no longer fixed to the traditional methods. The era of information and technology has set different rules for business owners. The widely-open global market demands more dynamic and creative ways of business advertising, resulting in new methods and choices of advertising media. Even the free business advertising media is no longer a scarce or limited source for the intelligent businessmen only. Everyone now has access to free business advertising. It is just to what extent you want to utilize the free business advertising media that makes difference.

In the need of acquiring global market, business owners have no reason to neglect the importance of business advertising. If advertising cost is a big issue, then focus more on free business advertising. You know, free business advertising media on Internet such like free classified ads, blogs, websites, emails, social sites, directory sites, etc are some of the outstanding options. The world of business advertising is no longer like in the former, with substantial hours spent for designing the ads concept, taking pictures, video, or record, meeting with advertising agencies, etc (yet spending big company expenditure). Sure the traditional methods of business advertising are still needed in many circumstances, but you can not ignore the advantages of free business advertising. Free business advertising being inexpensive does not mean they are not effective. The facts are:

1. Many business owners have introduced and ran their businesses successfully just by utilizing the free business advertising.

2. Many products and services have hit the market from free business advertising on blogs and websites.

3. Many buyers now look for advertisement on Internet to find what they want because from their points of view the Internet has much wider range of products to choose from and offers the ability to compare prices in minutes.

4. Many small entrepreneurs have recorded great sales by using free business advertising alone. Imagine obtaining this with virtually no cost.

5. More customers and business owners (if you are doing business-to-business) have agreed that shopping on Internet is the better and efficient way to find almost anything from around the world. No matter where they search and buy products from, the free business advertising you post must contribute to the great experience.

6. Business is dynamic and demanding, you must understand this since the beginning. Then if other players are starting to utilize the free business advertising media and you are not, you would be too late to save the budgets and get better cost-to-sales ratio. Both are deteriorating to your business.

Free business advertising media is too good to be passed, you should get this conclusion after reading the facts above about how free business advertising works. Sure this does not imply that businessmen should alter all the paid business advertising with the free ones, but you can re-consider a more strategic marketing mix that gives more role for free business advertising. It is wise to follow the trend, anyway.
